About Derwent Cottage
Derwent Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests across three bedrooms, with a flexible layout that works particularly well for families and mixed-age groups.
On the ground floor there is a kingsize bedroom and bathroom, along with the main living space. Upstairs are a second kingsize bedroom and a twin bedroom with two single beds.
The cottage also has its own private, fenced south-facing patio, providing outdoor space for relaxing during your stay.
Derwent can be booked individually, alongside one or more of the neighbouring cottages, or as part of the full Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection, which sleeps up to 23 guests.
Guests also have direct access from our land onto the traffic-free trail around Carsington Water, making it easy to head out walking or cycling without getting in the car.
Kitchen and Living Spaces
Derwent Cottage has an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, creating a sociable space for everyone to spend time together.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering stays, with an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine.
The living area provides a comfortable place to relax after a day exploring Derbyshire, with a log burner for cooler evenings and space to dine together.
Doors lead out to the cottage’s private fenced south-facing patio, giving you your own outdoor space as well as access to the wider Stainsborough Hall Estate.

Derwent is one of five cottages at Stainsborough Hall. For larger groups, all five cottages can be booked together as the Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection, sleeping up to 23 guests with exclusive use of the communal barn.

- Individual cottages are generally released for booking around 3–4 months before arrival

Derwent Cottage is set within the grounds of Stainsborough Hall, close to Carsington Water in the Derbyshire countryside.
Guests have direct access from our land onto the traffic-free trail around Carsington Water, making it especially convenient for walking, cycling and exploring the reservoir without needing to drive first.
It also provides an excellent base for visiting Wirksworth, Matlock and Matlock Bath, Ashbourne, Dovedale, Bakewell, Chatsworth and the wider Peak District.

If you’re planning a stay for a larger group, you have a couple of options.
For groups of up to 23 guests, you can book the full Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection, which includes all five cottages together with exclusive use of the communal barn, giving everyone their own cottage space while still providing somewhere to dine, relax and spend time together.
If you only need a little more space, you can also book one or two additional cottages alongside Lathkill and add use of the communal space for an additional charge.
Please note that the hot tub is only available when all five cottages are booked together as the Cottage Collection. This is to protect the privacy of guests staying in the other cottages.
