The Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection brings together five individual cottages with a dedicated communal barn, creating a brilliant setup for larger family gatherings, multi-generational stays and groups of friends.

You can all stay together across 12 bedrooms in five separate cottages, while still having your own kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces to retreat to. At the centre of the collection is the communal barn, where all 23 guests can dine together around one table, relax by the log burner and spend time together as one group.

An optional log-fired hot tub, tennis court, games room, private terraces and countryside setting complete the stay.

About the Cottage Collection

The Cottage Collection at Stainsborough Hall has been designed for groups who want to spend time together without everyone having to stay under one roof.

The five cottages sleep up to 23 guests, each with its own kitchen, bathroom and living space. That means different generations or family groups can have their own space and routine, while the communal barn provides somewhere large enough for everyone to come together properly.

It works particularly well for extended families and multi-generational groups because people can join the group when they want to, but still retreat to their own cottage at the end of the evening.

The five cottages are:

• Derwent Cottage – sleeps 6

Together they provide 12 bedrooms across the collection.

The Communal Barn

At the heart of the Cottage Collection is the dedicated communal barn, giving larger groups something that is often missing when several cottages are booked together: a proper place for everyone to gather.

The dining area comfortably seats all 23 guests around one table, making it ideal for family meals, celebration dinners and long relaxed breakfasts together.

There are comfortable sofas and a large log burner, creating a relaxed social space for drinks, board games and evenings together.

The barn also has two additional toilets, which makes a real difference when the whole group is using the space at the same time.

While each cottage has it’s own kitchen, alongside the communal barn is a fully equipped kitchen specifically for group catering.

Guests booking the full Cottage Collection can add the log-fired hot tub for an additional charge.

Because the entire collection is booked exclusively by one group, the hot tub can be enjoyed privately without affecting guests in neighbouring cottages. The current listing shows the charge as £200 per stay.

The hot tub is also only available when the full Cottage Collection is booked, so that it can be used privately by one group.

The Cottage Collection is set within the grounds of Stainsborough Hall in the Derbyshire countryside, close to Carsington Water.

Guests have direct access from our land onto the traffic-free trail around Carsington Water, making it easy to head out walking or cycling without getting in the car.

The cottages also provide a convenient base for exploring Wirksworth, Matlock and Matlock Bath, Ashbourne, Dovedale, Bakewell, Chatsworth and the wider Peak District.
