About Dovedale Cottage
Dovedale Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests across three bedrooms, with a layout that works particularly well for families and groups of friends.
On the ground floor there is a fixed twin bedroom with two single beds. Upstairs there is one fixed kingsize bedroom and a further bedroom which can be arranged as either a kingsize bed or two singles, giving you some flexibility depending on your group.
The cottage has its own private, fenced south-facing terrace overlooking the cottage gardens, with outdoor seating and a barbecue — a lovely spot for morning coffee or relaxed evenings outside.
Dovedale can be booked individually, alongside one or more neighbouring cottages, or as part of the full Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection, sleeping up to 23 guests.
Guests also have access from the Stainsborough Hall Estate to the traffic-free trail around Carsington Water, making it easy to head out walking or cycling from the property.
Kitchen and Living Spaces
Dovedale Cottage has a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, creating a sociable space for everyone to spend time together.
The living area has comfortable seating for six, south-facing views and an exposed Derbyshire stone wall, giving the room plenty of character.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering stays, with an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also dining space for six.
Outside, the cottage has its own private fenced south-facing terrace, with a table and chairs for six and a barbecue.

Dovedale is one of five cottages at Stainsborough Hall. For larger groups, all five cottages can be booked together as the Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection, sleeping up to 23 guests with exclusive use of the communal barn.

- Individual cottages are generally released for booking around 3–4 months before arrival

Dovedale Cottage is set within the grounds of Stainsborough Hall, close to Carsington Water in the Derbyshire countryside.
Guests have direct access from our land onto the traffic-free trail around Carsington Water, making it especially convenient for walking, cycling and exploring the reservoir without needing to drive first.
It also provides an excellent base for visiting Wirksworth, Matlock and Matlock Bath, Ashbourne, Dovedale, Bakewell, Chatsworth and the wider Peak District.

Need more space?
If you’re planning a stay for a larger group, you have a couple of options.
For groups of up to 23 guests, you can book the full Stainsborough Hall Cottage Collection, which includes all five cottages together with exclusive use of the communal barn, giving everyone their own cottage space while still providing somewhere to dine, relax and spend time together.
If you only need a little more space, you can also book one or two additional cottages alongside Lathkill and add use of the communal space for an additional charge.
Please note that the hot tub is only available when all five cottages are booked together as the Cottage Collection. This is to protect the privacy of guests staying in the other cottages.
